And so it begins…an entrepreneurial journey

My 1st entry is a bit of a walk down memory lane. I think I’m really going to enjoy this new work (and life) experience – meeting people, helping companies, and having greater flexibility. I often reminisce about my early 20s, just out of university, when my buddies and I saw ourselves as future entrepreneurs. The ideas came fast and furious (gotta get a car analogy in there somewhere), and we actually did a fair bit of development in the early to mid-90s, but it was always a side passion with all of us. The funny thing is, some of the ideas would have taken off if we had of just seen them through, the market exploded with IT software (now called ‘apps’ I guess) in the years post Y2K.

I had even toyed with the idea of going back to school throughout the latter stages of the 1990s and early 2000s, for an MBA or some type of technology or entrepreneurship-focused M.Sc. The way I looked at it though, with the diversity of the career I had at that point, both in terms of the roles I had been in and the companies I had worked for, I thought this type of ‘on the job’ education and knowledge gain was as useful and advantageous as any degree (some people might debate this, I know I still do on occasion).

And then, almost 10 years ago, what was to become JEWAL 1st came into existence (more on that in a future post), but the timing just wasn’t right.

Regardless, fast forward to almost the start of the 2nd decade of the Millennium, and I can say this feels like a perfect time to really try my own thing. Maybe it comes with experience and maturity, confidence coupled with self-awareness (and maybe a small dose of self-doubt), but I believe JEWAL Consulting & Data Mining can and will make a difference to a lot of people and companies in the coming years. I know myself well, my track record for getting things done and treating people the right way. Reach out if you think I can help you and your organization. I’ll be doing likewise in the coming months and years.
